Man Running 240 Miles for 9/11 Charitities Makes Stop in Elizabeth

A North Carolina man running 240 miles – in support of 9/11 victims-  between the Pentagon and Ground Zero  made a stop in Elizabeth today.

Jeremy Boyd of North Carolina, started ‘The Run to Never Forget’ on Monday, to benefit charities like Tuesday’s Children and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation which help military members, first responders and families affected by the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2011.

This afternoon shortly after 12 p.m., Boyd made a stop at the headquarters of Engine 1 and Ladder 3 located on South Broad Street in Elizabeth , where members from Local 9 of the Firemen's Benevolent Association and fire officers organized a lunch for Jeremy donated by John’s Caffe’ Pizza & Catering.

“We are honored that Jeremy has included our members in his noble journey to benefit those affected by the events on that somber day,” said FMBA Local 9 President Michael Guarino.

 Following the lunch, Jeremy was presented with a 9/11 National Remembrance Flag donated by its designer, Joanne and Stephen Galvin, to carry for the remainder of his run.

Boyd was than was escorted by city fire and police vehicles to the city's 9/11 memorial site - Midtown Pedestrian Plaza - where a moment of silence was held.

The runners are expected to arrive at ground zero this evening.
