Man Robbed at Gunpoint Following Botched iPhone Sale in Montclair

Police are searching for tips after a Montclair man attempting to buy an iPhone was robbed at gunpoint Sunday outside a Panera Bread store.

According to police, the 29-year-old victim arranged to buy an iPhone from an internet seller at the Panera Bread on Bloomfield Avenue.

Officials say, when the seller arrived, he entered the victim’s car and brandished a handgun. The armed suspect then made off with approximately $3,600 in cash from the victim.

The suspect - described as a black male in his 30’s with a thin build - was last seen fleeing in a newer model black vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
