Update: Man Charged with DWI Following Wrong-Way Crash on Turnpike in Elizabeth

A 68-year-old Wharton man has been charged with drunk driving following the wrong-way on the New Jersey Turnpike Sunday night

According to police, Luis Hernandez was driving a Ford F150 south in the northbound car lanes when he collided with a Honda Civic that was heading north on the highway near exit 13 at approximately 9:31 p.m.

Hernandez then struck a third car, who according to police only suffered minor damage.

The driver - a 23-year-old man from Pasadena, Md. - and a passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Centreville, Md., from the Honda, both suffered non- life threatening, police said.

Hernandez was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
