Police in Newark are looking into whether robbery is the motive for a shot fired incident that connected on a male in the city's North Ward during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 197 Summer Avenue near the fire firehouse after they received reports of shots fired at that location.
Units arrived at the scene and requested EMS on a rushed after finding the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach according to reports.
The victim was transported to University Hospital where his injuries were only reported as serious.
Police began a search for a dark-colored SUV last observed speeding from the scene.
There were no arrests reported.
