Linden Police Officer, PAL Director Identified as Victim of Fatal Train Strike

City officials confirmed that the man struck and killed this morning by a train was a Linden Police officer.

Officials released the following statement:

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linden Police Officer Daniel Kuczynski, who was killed this morning when he was struck by a train just after 7:30 a.m."

The circumstances leading up to and surrounding this tragedy remain under investigation by the Amtrak Police Department.

Kuczynski, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, served as the Director of the Linden Police Athletic League (PAL) for the past nine years.

“As Police Officers, we strive to make a difference, and through his work Danny had a profound impact on our city’s children,” Linden Police Chief Jonathan Parham said. “We ask that you keep Danny's family, friends, and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers as we deal with this painful loss. He will be missed.”

We invite all those who knew Officer Kuczynski and were touched by his generosity to join us tomorrow night, Tuesday, June 13th in Dobson Park at 7:00 p.m. for a candlelight vigil held in his memory.
