Newark Man Charged with Attempting to Burglarize Home in Linden

Linden Police charged a Newark man with burglary after he allegedly attempted to break into several homes.

According to Police. Mr. Gordon Hall Jr, 19, was arrested on Thursday, January 18th at about 1:30 p.m. after police responded to the area when witnesses reported that a man attempted to break into multiple houses on W. Linden Avenue.

Authorities said officers ultimately located Gordon in a backyard in the 300 block.

Gordon ran from the scene when police confronted him, but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

“Ensuring that residents feel safe and secure inside their homes is a top priority,” said Police Chief David Hart. “As this case demonstrates, the most effective tool we have to combat crimes like this is the cooperation of alert and proactive members of our community.”

Police charged Hall with 3rd-degree burglary and associated resisting arrest charges but released him on a summons pending an appearance in Superior Court on February 2nd.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
