Linden Crash Severely Injures Pedestrian

Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that left a pedestrian severely injured in Linden this afternoon.

Police say the single-car crash happened before 4 p.m. when the driver of a van struck a utility pole and a pedestrian in the 1600 block of St. George’s Avenue.

According to police, the 51-year-old female pedestrian was taken to University Hospital in Newark where she suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say expect East St. Georges Avenue to be closed between Nora Drive and Garfield Avenue for several hours for the investigation and repairs to the pole.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
