Authorities in Newark are looking into a crash that reportedly has one person fighting for their life at a hospital in the city this Saturday morning.
The violent crash happened when an SUV struck a tree at approximately 5 a.m. in the vicinity of Haynes Avenue and Frelinghuysen Avenue where, according to preliminary reports, a Port Authority officer and an off-duty EMT came across the crash and began life-saving techniques on the unidentified victim.
EMS transported the person to University Hospital where we could only confirm life-threatening injuries as of 5:27 a.m.
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
