Newark Broadcasting Major to Represent Ironbound Boys & Girls Club in NJ Youth of the Year Awards

Newark

Congratulations to Ms. Kelsey Oliveira who will represent the Boys & Girls Club of Newark Ironbound at the state Youth of the Year competition.

According to a statement released by Boys and Girls Cub officials, each year, one exceptional Club member is selected to be the Youth of the Year who serves as an ambassador for their Boys & Girls Club youth as well as a voice for young people in the community.

Officials say, this year, Kelsey has been chosen as that exceptional youth and will compete on the state level in June in hopes of becoming the National Youth of the Year, where one outstanding young person is named Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national teen spokesperson.

"Kelsey is an outstanding student in her own right who has over exceeded her expectations as a leader and quality broadcast student in the Television Production Department at Arts High School" TV Instructor Mr. Smith said.

The National Youth of the Year served in the capacity of role model, leader as they advocate for the nearly 4 million youth serviced by Boys & Girls Clubs each year, and all of America’s young people officials said.

Kelsey is a Senior Television Production Major at Arts High School who enjoys volunteering, photography, Girl Scouts, and mentoring for the Americorp Program.

"Kelsey ability to give back to her community via volunteering and serving youth at the Boys and Girls Club speaks volumes about her passion for assisting people where seeing that humanity moves to the next level is first and foremost. I salute Kelci for this well-deserved honor and pray that NJ State Boys and Girls Club officials will see the same during the honoring process" Mr. Smith said in a statement.

We wish Kelsey the very best throughout her journey for youth of the year in NJ!
