Harrison Police Bust Newark Man in Possession of Drugs, Guns Police say

According to police on Tuesday at approximately 2:58 a.m., Harrison Police stopped a 2008 Honda Accord at 100 Passaic Ave (Hampton Inn) for committing several motor vehicle offenses.

Police said while the driver was being questioned, officers detected the strong smell of marijuana and observed that the driver was acting very suspiciously. When officers ordered the driver out of the vehicle, he placed it in gear and attempted to drive off.

One of the officers was able to reach in and set the car back in park as another officer took control of the driver police said.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and attempted to pull a loaded revolver from his waistband as officers were handcuffing him.

Luckily, he was subdued without any injury to the officers or the suspect.

Police said they recovered two (2) loaded weapons (a .22 caliber revolver and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun - both stolen), an assortment of drugs prepared for distribution (marijuana, cocaine, crack, mushrooms, ecstasy and drug paraphernalia from the car.

Police arrested Mr. Jempsley Brun, 32, of Newark and charged him with more than 15 crimes including numerous drug and weapons offenses, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and motor vehicle offenses.
