Harrison Crime Suppression Unit Busts Newark Men with Controlled Dangerous Substances

Police in Harrison took two Newark men into custody after they spotted them attempting to make a drug transaction on Thursday evening.

According to a statement released by Lt. Dave Doyle, Sergeant Corey Karas and Officer Matthew Murphy were involved in a crime suppression function and observed a drug transaction taking place between a suspect on foot who approached a vehicle that was double-parked.

Lt. Doyle said as the suspects noticed the patrol unit, the pedestrian quickly walked into an alley and the vehicle left the scene.

Officers initiated a traffic stop based on the what they had witnessed with the vehicle occupied by two males.

According to Lt. Doyle. as the officers approached, they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and both officers observed vials and a white powdery substance -suspected to be cocaine- in plain sight within the car.

Police removed both suspects from the vehicle and after a further search of the car, they reportedly revealed more suspected cocaine, unlabeled prescription drugs, additional suspected marijuana and over $700 cash in denominations consistent with drug sales according to Lt. Doyle.

Police arrested **Mr. Raul Pabon, 39 of Newark** then charged him with possession, manufacturing and distribution of CDS, prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Hudson County Jail.

Lt. Doyle said the passenger inside the vehicle, **Mr. Daniel Lugo-Torres, 47 of Newark**, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and additionally found to be fugitive from justice from Harrisburg, PA.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
