Franklin Man Charged with Possession of Explicit Images of Minors, Endangering Welfare of a Child

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Franklin Township Chief of Police Richard Grammar announced the arrest of Kent Kollmer, 70, of Somerset section of Franklin Township.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that information was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that Kent Kollmer had uploaded sexually explicit images of children under the age of 18 via the internet.

An investigation was thereafter initiated by detectives in the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations/Computer Crimes Unit.

The investigation confirmed that defendant Kollmer had uploaded and downloaded sexually explicit images/videos of children under the age of 18.

According to authorities, on Feb. 23rd, at approximately 6 a.m. detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, along with Special Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New Jersey State Police and the Franklin Township Police Department, executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence.

As a result of the search, defendant Kollmer was found to be in possession of Explicit Images of Minors. Detectives seized multiple digital devices for further computer forensic examination.

Police arrested Kollmer without incident at his residence, and he was charged with 3rd degree, endangering the welfare of a child and 3rd degree, possession of Explicit Images of Minors.

After processing, he was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
