There is an active investigation underway as detectives investigate a stabbing that left a man dead in Newark's North Ward Saturday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, just before 9:30 a.m., police responded to reports of an injured person in the 400 block of 4th Avenue near North 11th Street.
Units arrived at the scene and found the victim bleeding heavily after suffering a brutal stab wound at that location.
Police say the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
The victim has not been identified at this time and the circumstances behind the stabbing is in the early stages of the investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
