Elizabeth Woman Arrested After Burglarizing Cars in Linden

A 22-year-old Elizabeth woman was arrested and charged with burglary to several cars.

According to police, on August 3rd at approximately 1:25 a.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Dill Avenue for reports of a woman riding a bicycle, checking car door handles.

Responding officers, located and arrested suspect, later identified as Summer Ahmed as she exited one of the cars.

At the time of her arrest, Ahmed was found to be in possession of a bottle of Oxycodone.

Further investigation revealed that the medication was stolen from another vehicle that was parked in a nearby driveway.

"Car burglary is a growing problem, and burglars usually look for easy targets,” explained Linden Police Detective/Captain William Turbett.

“Simple steps like locking your doors and hiding valuables from view you can go a long way toward protecting your belongings.”

Ahmed was charged with charged with 3rd Degree burglary and various drug-related charges and remanded to the Union County Jail pending an appearance in Superior Court.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
