Elizabeth Man Arrested for Drug Possession in Roselle Park

A 19-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested on possession charges following a vehicle stop in Roselle Park.

According to authorities, on Sept. 9th, at 1:29 a.m., Officer Dean Khallaf conducted a motor vehicle stop of a 2000 BMW on West Westfield Avenue for a moving violation.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle - later identified as Jonathan Hoyos, 19, of Elizabeth and passenger, identified as Victor Pena-Cruz - were both found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected (marijuana) and drug paraphernalia.

Police subsequently arrested Hoyos and charged him with possession of a controlled dangerous substance suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor vehicle summons for possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, speeding, unclear plates, and failure to provide an insurance card.

According to authorities, Pena-Cruz was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Officials say both Hoyos and Pena-Cruz were released on summonses with a future Roselle Park Municipal Court date.
