Edison High Speed Motorcycle Pursuit Ends in Linden; Arrest

Edison

A high-speed pursuit that began in Edison ended several miles away in Linden on Thursday morning.

A request for public information for the pursuit went unanswered from the Edison Police Department, but according to Linden Police officials, Linden Police officers were engaged at the end of the incident and could not officially respond to why the motorcycle was actively pursued.

Linden residents exiting their homes for work and school noticed heavy police presence in the area of West Munsell Avenue and North Stiles Street before 8:30 a.m. with a male suspect in handcuffs and escorted to a police cruiser by Linden Police.

According to a statement released by Linden Police, the police pursuit that began in Edison arrived in our city at around 8:25 Thursday morning.

Officials said Linden police officers responded after the driver lost control and crashed his Ducati motorcycle at the corner of West Munsell Avenue and North Stiles Street where the driver fled the scene but was located by our officers a few blocks away.

"The suspect was not charged with any crimes in Linden," officials said in the statement.

Officers from Edison responded and took custody of the suspect with no severe injuries reported.

The Thursday morning pursuit brings the "unofficial" Edison-to-Union County vehicle high-speed pursuits to two (2) in less than a month with the other pursuit ending in a violent crash with a confirmed fatality on September 27th in the city of Plainfield.

According to Union County Prosecutor Thomas K. Isenhour, his office is actively investigating the pursuit that resulted in the death of 30-year-old Mr. Dem-Quan Royal of Plainfield that occurred after midnight on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017, in the 800 block of Woodland Avenue in Plainfield. **Click [HERE ](https://www.rlsmedia.com/article/update-edison-police-pursuit-kills-plainfield-man) for original fatal crash story**.
