Early Morning Crash on NJ Turnpike in Kearny Under Investigation; Injuries

NJ State Police officials are investigating a crash that injured several people on a highway in Hudson County Thursday morning.

According to preliminary reports, the two-car collision happened in the northbound lanes of the NJ Turnpike near mile marker 108 in Kearny.

Emergency responders arrived and found two cars involved in a possible head-on crash, several victims trapped inside a severely damaged vehicle.

Reports say three victims were extricated and taken to University Hospital in Newark and Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City for treatment of serious injuries.

NJ State Transportation officials said the following on NJ-511: "As of 2:54 am, there's a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike - Western Spur northbound exiting at Interchange 15W - I-280 in Kearny. The ramp is blocked.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
