Dover Officer Struck, Injured with Vehicle; Two Suspects in Custody

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Town of Dover Police Department Director Dominick Saldida  announce the arrest of Michael Medici, 29, of Rockaway, and Colleen McDonough, 32, of Rockaway Township, on charges related to an incident that resulted in serious bodily injury to a Town of Dover police officer.  

Authorities said on Saturday afternoon, at approximately 4 p.m., Town of Dover Police were dispatched to a call concerning multiple individuals sleeping in a vehicle.  Police officers arrived on scene and approached the vehicle.  

Upon the officer’s approach, the driver of the vehicle began to drive over the curb and onto the sidewalk, striking the officer.  The officer was injured as a result of this incident.  The vehicle ultimately came to a stop and the occupants were detained.  

The officer was transported to Morristown Medical Center where he currently remains.  The full extent of his injuries are not yet known at this time, but they are not believed to be life threatening.  

Michael Medici has been charged with various crimes related to this incident, including Aggravated Assault, a crime of the second degree, and Assault by Auto, a crime of the third degree.    

Colleen McDonough has also been charged with crimes related to this incident, including Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Throwing Bodily Fluids at a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting Arrest.  

The charges and allegations are merely accusations, and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
