Puppy Rescued from Building Fire in Irvington

Irvington Township

A fast-moving fire that ignited inside a building in Irvington had an alert citizen spring into action, assisting with the rescue of several people from the building this morning.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the multi-family building located in the 20's block of Rosehill Place at Norwood Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. according to fire officials.

An alert male citizen observed flames coming from the window when he ran inside the building and banged on several doors, awakening sleeping residents officials said.

Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene and assisted an adult female and a puppy from the building.

About a half dozen citizens were temporarily displaced as firefighters began to investigate a cause of the fire.
