According to Salem County authorities, a passerby saw what appeared to be a deceased body in the woods off of Sportsman Road in Carneys Point.
Police say the man called 911 and the Carneys Point Police Department responded to the scene where they found an individual who appeared to be deceased as the result of an apparent suicide.
The police checked his address of record and they contacted the Penns Grove Police Department to make a well being check at an address in Penns Grove.
Penns Grove police responded to the address and discovered three decedents - a female and two small children.
At this time no further information is available pending notification of next of kin.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Carneys Point Police Department, the Penns Grove Police Department, the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police.
