Authorities are inside an Essex County Park in Newark investigating a body that was recovered early this morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the Vailsburg Park located in the city's West Ward after receiving reports of suspicious activities.
Upon their arrival, police found an unconscious and unresponsive person inside the park. Medical staff pronounced the person dead at the scene.
A crime scene has been established where police taped off a portion of the park as investigators gathered evidence to possibly assist in what caused the person's death.
There is no foul play reported at this time.

**UPDATED 8:58 a.m.** The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has arrived on the scene. **NOTE** Vailsburg Park is maintained and secured by Essex County.
