DEVELOPING NEWARK NJ: Bullets Strike Two Males in Newark's South Ward

This developing information comes to you from the 400 block Irvine Turner Boulevard in Newark's South Ward where police are on the scene investigating a shots fired incident with a confirmed connection of a male victim at this time.

According to preliminary reports, gunfire erupted at around 12:35 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found the victim struck by bullets.

The victim was transported to University Hospital in serious but stable condition according to reports.

Police have several block closed off for the investigation.

Officers chased and detained a black male who wore a blue sweater and black jeans in the 600 block of Hunterdon Street. It is not clear if this suspect is the shooter at this time.

Authorities believe the suspect arrived in a 2011 Volkswagen, stolen out of Elizabeth, and began to fire shots at the victim.

**UPDATE: 12:55pm** A second victim located suffering gunshot wounds. Unknown condition for this victim. About 15 bullets fired at the scene.
