DEVELOPING HARRISON NJ: Police Pursuit Ends with Man Barricaded at Harrison Apartment Complex

Harrison Town

The Hudson County Sherrif's Office and SWAT are at an apartment complex in Harrison attempting to get a man to come out of an apartment.

According to preliminary reports, the incident began as Harrison Police tried to get the driver of a vehicle to pull over for traffic violations before 11 p.m. when the driver sped away at a high rate of speed and ignored officer's lights and sirens.

Police following at a safe distant spotted the vehicle on Guyon Drive heading toward Frank E. Rogers Boulevard with the vehicle's driving on three rims according to reports.

The suspect bailed from the vehicle after pulling into the driveway of a garage to a newly built complex in the 1100 block of Frank E. Rogers Boulevard near the Jackson Street Bridge.

Authorities said the suspect bailed from the vehicle and ran inside the Vermella Apartments where they believe he is a resident.

It is not clear if the man is armed with a weapon, but he is vehemently refusing to leave the apartment.

The standoff remained in effect as of 2:45 a.m. with no injuries reported.
