BREAKING WAYNE NJ: Woman Killed, Child Injured After Vehicle Strikes Them in Wayne

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Wayne Police Chief James Clark announce that at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, officers responded to the area of Valley Road and Birchwood Terrace in Wayne, in response to a motor vehicle accident involving two pedestrians.

Officials say upon officers arrival, they determined that the two pedestrians, an adult woman, and a six-year-old child were attempting to cross Valley Road when a Chevy Impala struck them.

Police say an adult male operated the Impala, and there was an adult male passenger in the vehicle, who was injured in the crash.

EMS rushed both victims to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, where the child is being treated for severe injuries, but doctors pronounced the adult woman dead at 7:46 p.m. police said.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
