BREAKING UNION NJ: Man Found Fatally Stabbed Multiple Times Inside Burning Union House

A suspicious fire investigation is now being investigated as a homicide after a man was found stabbed to death inside the Union home.

Crews responded to the 1500 block of Van Ness Terrace at approximately 11:50 a.m., where they found a house fully engulfed in flames and reports of a person possibly trapped.

Shortly after extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the body of an unidentified male suffering multiple stab wounds.

According to reports, firefighters attempted to resuscitate the man, but they were unsuccessful. The victim was pronounced dead.

An investigation was initiated shortly after the discovery, leading to a lock-down at Burnet Middle School, when a car possibly connected to the crime was spotted in the area.

Although no additional details were released, a suspect is reportedly in custody and the lock-down was lifted.

The Union County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force are on the scene investigating.

Firefighters placed the fire under control at around 1 p.m.
