There is a homicide investigation underway in Trenton as detectives from the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office look into a shooting that left one person dead overnight in the city.
Gunfire erupted in the 100 block of Brown Street just after 11:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where they arrived to find two victims struck by gunfire according to preliminary reports.
Both victims were rushed to an area hospital where doctors pronounced the female victim dead shortly before 12:45 a.m.
The second victim suffered a non-life threatening graze wound according to authorities.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There were no arrests reported.
