BREAKING TEANECK NJ: Early Morning Three-Alarm House Fire Causes Fatalities in Teaneck

A fatal house fire in Teaneck has Bergen County authorities investigating at this time.

According to preliminary reports, firefighters were called to 130 Sherman Avenue sometime around 6:30 a.m. for reports of a fire with possible trapped occupants.

Fire officials said command called a working fire after seeing a heavy smoke condition from a distance.

Upon arrival, crews observed a two-and-half story home fully involved with exposure problems to a neighboring home, officials said.

Following a search of the home, firefighters pulled a person from the home who was pronounced dead at the scene. A report of a a second person unaccounted for has crews searching through rumble.

Mutual aid from Hackensack, Englewood, Ridgefield Park and Bogota assisted on scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
