Police have a crime scene established in a neighborhood in Orange as they look for the motive for a shooting that has a male suffering serious injuries.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 400 block of Central Avenue shortly after 10 am where several police units arrived to find the unconscious victim suffering a life threatening gunshot wound.
There is a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
UPDATE 10:31 am Orange High Schools and Orange Prep Academy are on a lock-down status.
UPDATE 10:40 a.m. This is a confirmed homicide investigation with the Essex County Prosecutor Office leading. Avoid the area.
