BREAKING NEWARK NJ: Multiple People Shot in Newark's South Ward; Two Dead

Police have a crime scene established in the area of Peshine and Avon avenues as they investigate a shooting that has a male victim suffering life-threatening injuries at this time.

Multiple rounds of gunfire rang out near the Pilgrim Village at around 8:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found the unresponsive victim struck at that location.

EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital while police at the scene located nearly a dozen shell casings.

A black male suspect last observed wearing dark clothing, and a husky build ran from the scene.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

In another shooting incident, police responded to reports of shots fired in the single digit block of Edwin Place near Willoughby where at around 8:55 where officers located about two people shot at that location.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.

**UPDATE 9:01 pm** There are shots fired reports in the area of Seth Boyden Terrace and Frelinghuysen Avenue. No confirmed injuries at this time.

**UPDATE 9:06 pm** One victim from the Edwin Place shooting has life-threatening injuries.

**UPDATE 9:07 pm** There are now "life-threatening" injuries for all three victims (both shooting scenes)

**UPDATE 9:44 pm The Avon Avenue shooting victim is a confirmed fatality.**

**UPDATE 9:49 pm At least one of the victims from the Edwin Place shooting is a confirmed homicide investigation.**
