There are life threatening injuries reported for a shooting that has at least three people struck at this time in Newark.
Multiple rounds of gunfire rang out in the 700 block of South 19th Street before 5:45 p.m. sending a large contingency of emergency responders to the scene where they found the victims shot at that location.
A female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and is being rushed to University Hospital in critical condition. This woman was pronounced dead a short time later.
Two other victims suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds according to preliminary reports.
There is a crime scene established and an active investigation underway.
There is no suspect information at this time.
