ELIZABETH NJ: Infant Left in Car for Hours in Elizabeth is Stable Police say

Elizabeth

A child that was left inside a locked vehicle for several hours in Elizabeth is hospitalized this evening.

According to a statement released by city Spokeswoman Kelly Martins, emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of 145 Elmora Avenue at approximately 2:300 p.m. after receiving reports of an injured child at that location.

Spokeswoman Martins said emergency crews arrived at the scene and transported a 22-months-old boy to an area hospital after his parents mistakenly left him in a parked minivan for an ‘extended’ period of time.

Martins said despite media reports that emergency crews used CPR to resuscitate the unconscious child, the boy never lost consciousness and is in stable condition at a local hospital.

According to sources familiar with the family, the father of the child reportedly was transporting several kids in the car when he accidentally left the boy when the others exited the vehicle.

The source said when the mother received the car, she found the child inside and called Jewish Hatzolah Ambulance.

Police did not charge the parents with a crime spokeswoman Martins said.
