BMW Stolen Out of Mountain Lakes Located in Newark; Suspect Arrested by NPD

Newark Irvington Township Mountain Lakes

A vehicle that was first reported stolen out of Mountain Lakes by RLS Metro Breaking News weekend crew was located in Newark with authorities arresting the suspect possibly responsible for the theft.

According to authorities, the 24-year-old Irvington man was arrested by members of the Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team this morning for being in possession of a stolen BMW Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.

Police said, after receiving tips from residents in the area who read the post on the Metro Breaking News Facebook page, officers patrolling in the city’s Central Ward, Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.) observed Darren Troupe attaching a license plate to a BMW.

During a routine check, authorities said the detectives learned that the license plate was registered to a different car, not the BMW.

As Troupe entered the BMW to drive away, detectives swiftly moved in and detained him, then determined that the BMW had been stolen from Mountain Lakes, New Jersey Saturday morning.

Troupe was charged with receiving stolen property.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

These are mere allegation lodged against Troupe. He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
