Bloomfield Man Pleads Guilty of Conducting Lewd Acts on Sleeping Monmouth County Child

Bloomfield Monmouth County

FREEHOLD – A Bloomfield man has pleaded guilty to charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Possession of Explicit Images of Minors for incidents that occurred in Long Branch on June 15 and 16, 2017, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Mr. Jaime Mauricio Leon, 34, of Bloomfield, entered the pleas of guilty Wednesday afternoon before the Honorable Superior Court Judge David F. Bauman, to first degree Aggravated Assault, and third degree Possession of Explicit Images of Minors.

The plea calls for the imposition of a mandatory 25 years in New Jersey State Prison when Leon returns for sentencing on August 2nd.

Officials say Leon will be required to serve all 25 years without the possibility of parole pursuant to the Jessica Lunsford Act.

Additionally, he will be subject to the requirements of Megan’s Law registration and Parole Supervision for Life upon his release from prison according to officials.

The charges were a result of a joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Long Branch Police Department.

According to officials, on June 16, 2017, a private citizen walked into the Long Branch Police Department to report that he observed, through a bedroom window, a man and woman committing lewd acts upon a minor.

Officials say the citizen provided law enforcement with evidence of a female and male suspect committing various acts of lewd acts upon a child who appeared to be asleep.

The resulting investigation identified the male suspect as Jamie Leon. The child was known to the female suspect officials said.

Additional investigation revealed further evidence that Leon and the female suspect had planned the attack on the child, and that both were in possession of child sexual abuse images.

Police arrested Leon on June 23, 2017, with the assistance of federal law enforcement officials at his job site in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

The case against the female codefendant remains pending.
