The Kearny Police Department responded to a Hit & Run crash at the intersection of Bergen Avenue and Schuyler Avenue this morning at approximately 8:30 am.

Police say a female bicyclist was struck at a substantial speed by the minivan in the attached photos.

According to police, the driver of the minivan slowed to a stop after striking the victim but then immediately drove off without attempting to aid the victim who was lying in the middle of the roadway.

Fortunately, there were several good Samaritans who ran over to check on the victim, call 911 and shield her from oncoming traffic until police units arrived. The victim was transported to an area hospital by EMS.

The Kearny Police Department is actively investigating this incident. The minivan has dents/damage from a previous crash on the rear passenger side.

The vehicle was last seen fleeing south on Schuyler Ave. If anyone recognizes the vehicle please contact Officer Richard Poplaski at rpoplaskijr@kearnynjpd.org or Lt. John Taylor at jtaylor@kearnynjpd.org.
