UPDATE: Three Bayonne Teens Critical in Somerset County Car Crash

Bedminster

BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Bedminster Township Chief of Police Karl Rock, announced an investigation into a single motor vehicle crash which left three occupants in critical condition.

Prosecutor Robertson stated on Saturday, December 7, at 3:47 p.m. Bedminster Township Police responded to the scene of a single motor vehicle crash on Rattlesnake Bridge Road approximately a half-mile north of Route 78.

Officials say the crash involved a single vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Corolla, which was being operated by an 18-year-old male from Bayonne, who was traveling with two 18-year-old passengers also from Bayonne.

According to officials, all three occupants were extricated from the damaged vehicle by emergency responders. All three passengers were transported to area hospitals and listed in critical condition.

The investigation into the events leading to the crash was handled by Bedminster Township Police in conjunction with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (C.A.R.T.).

The investigation has thus far revealed that the vehicle was traveling northbound on the southbound side of the roadway in excess of the speed limit when it struck a concrete bridge abutment. The investigation is on-going as to the reasoning for the vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the roadway Somerset County officials said.
