UPDATE: Atlantic County Prosecutor Continues Homicide Investigation After Missing Man Remain’s Found

Exactly one year ago today, the remains of a man were found along the wood line of an undeveloped private property at 1201 Doughty Road.

The investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit into this man’s death continues, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

The remains were found in the area of at 1201 Doughty Road, next to the Atlantic County Utilities Authority landfill and on February 2, 2017, investigators identified the remains as that of 55 year-old Barry Brown of Egg Harbor Township. On October 7, 2014, Brown was first reported missing and at that time the Egg Harbor Township Police Department and the New Jersey State Police began a search for Brown.

Officials say in April 2017, investigators determined the manner of Brown’s death to be a homicide.

“As we were able to positively identify these remains as those of Barry Brown and also determine the cause of death to be a homicide, I urge anyone with information about Barry Brown’s disappearance and subsequent death to come forward and speak with our investigators,” Prosecutor Tyner said.
