Officers from Union County to participate in Annual 'Americas 9/11 Ride'

Linden

Several officers from the Linden, Elizabeth, and Plainfield Police Department today will hop onto their police motorcycles and meet with a large contingent of motorcycles that participate in the annual America’s  9-1-1 Ride honoring the victims from the 9/11 terrorist attacks.   The Ride departs Shanksville, Pa., on Friday morning (the scene of United Flight 93 crash) and heads to Washington, D.C., where they arrive at the Pentagon (scene of American Airlines crash). On Saturday morning, they depart Washington and head for New York City.

During the journey, the contingent of motorcycles stops at Aviation Plaza on Routes 1&9 in Linden where Applebees and the Linden Fire Department host a free barbecue for the riders. Food and drinks are offered to the riders and they are able take a rest from their long trek.

The motorcyclists then continue their trip into New York City with a stop at Ground Zero.   Linden motorcycle officers escorting the group consist of Lt. Michael Babulski, Investigator Peter Hammer, Investigator Mark Kahana, and Officer Ian Conk.
