ALERT: Active Search for Man Wanted for Firing Gun at Victims in Newark

Police in Newark are on an active search for a man who they believe fired a gun at two victims in Newark overnight.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said **Mr. Tyreese K. Allen, 28, of Newark**, is wanted for an aggravated assault at this time.

According to a statement by Director Ambrose, at approximately 10:33 p.m., officers near the intersection of Avon Avenue and Bergen Street heard a gunshot coming from the area of Avon and Peshine Avenues.

Director Ambrose said, as officers drove towards the location to investigate, a gray vehicle was observed speeding away from the scene.

Detectives conducting an investigation were able to identify **Mr. Tyreese Allen** as the suspect who fled in the car after firing a weapon at two victims where neither suffered injuries during the incident.

Authorities were granted a warrant to arrest Mr. Allen on two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

Director Ambrose said **Mr. Tyreese K. Allen** has black hair, brown eyes, and is approximately 5’7” tall and weighs about 160 lbs.

Mr. Allen is considered armed and dangerous authorities said.
