A convoy of SUV’s, pick-ups and flatbed trucks left Veterans Courthouse early this morning as the 27th Annual Essex County Sheriff’s Holiday Toy Drive for children in need got under way.
Daily deliveries of more than 5,000 holiday gifts to local schools, houses of worship, social service agencies and indigent families will continue until Jan. 6th on day of the Three Kings.
Among the holiday gifts donated by the sheriff’s officers are computer learning devices, computer games, bicycles, roller and ice skates, books, arts and crafts materials, dolls, stuffed animals and toy train sets.
