A night of gun violence in an Asbury Park neighborhood has the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office investigating a homicide.
Gunfire erupted in the 400 block of Ridge Avenue just before 11 p.m. sending over a dozen of police and law enforcement personnel to the scene where they found two victims suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
Monmouth Prosecutor said identified the 10-year-old boy as Yovanni Banos-Merino and his mother as Lilia Merino, 38.
Witnesses at the scene say EMS rushed the child away from the scene providing CPR and other life-saving techniques.
Police set up a large crime scene that stretched about a block with at least one house struck by bullets according to authorities.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
