UPDATE: Jersey City Woman Charged with Multiple Post Office Burglaries

Ms. Zyeama Johnson, 29,  from Jersey City, New Jersey, was arrested today on charges of burglarizing two different U.S. Post Offices a total of six times, according to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.AdJohnson is facing six counts of post office burglary and was released on a $100,000 unsecured bond after appearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy Waldor in Newark federal court.

Federal officials said court documents reveal that Johnson, who was previously employed at one of the post offices, engaged in a series of break-ins starting January 10, 2023, with additional incidents occurring on January 13, January 21, January 26, and February 3.

During each incident, she allegedly stole mail and loaded it into her vehicle.

On February 7, Johnson targeted a second post office location, where she was apprehended by law enforcement as she exited the building. 

Each count of burglary that Johnson faces carries a potential maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
