UPDATE: Essex Prosecutor Investigates Fatal Shooting on Osborne Terrace in Newark

Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage reported that detectives are currently investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Newark’s South Ward on Sunday evening. 

VacineAccording to reports, Newark police were called to the 300 block of Osborne Terrace at approximately 8:43 pm following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male victim outside on the street.

The victim, identified as 50-year-old Mr. Deshaun Winston from East Orange, NJ, was pronounced dead at the scene by 8:59 pm, having sustained a fatal bullet wound to the head.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.

As of now, the investigation remains active, and details about the incident are limited.
