Update: Body of Man Found Under Arthur Kill Pier in Carteret

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Deputy Chief Dennis McFadden of the Carteret Police Department said today that the body of an unidentified male has been recovered from under a pier on the Arthur Kill.

Authorities are attempting to identify the victim, who was discovered Tuesday at approximately 6 p.m. by passersby, who called police.

The victim is described as a middle-aged white male with brown hair, between five-feet, nine-inches and six-feet tall, and weighing between 200 and 250 pounds.

He was wearing blue pants, a blue jacket, and black sneakers.

The cause of death remains under investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office.
