Suspect Wanted for Stabbing Victim in Newark’s North Ward

Newark police are calling for the public's assistance to identify a suspect involved in a stabbing incident that occurred on the night of Sunday, May 5, 2024.AdThe assault took place around 11:19 p.m. near the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Mt. Prospect Avenue.

Authorities were alerted to the incident when a man, who had been stabbed in the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue, flagged down patrolling officers.

Newark Police officials said the victim reported that he was attacked by a suspect who was part of a larger group.

He was quickly transported to University Hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

The suspect, captured on surveillance footage committing the assault, is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male, standing between 5’3” and 5’5” and weighing approximately 140 pounds.AdHe was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt, a gray and white hooded jacket, and black and white sneakers.

The community's cooperation is crucial in apprehending the suspect and ensuring the safety of the neighborhood.
