There is an active investigation into the death of a man found inside a vehicle in Newark's South Ward late last night authorities said.
Police responded to the area of Elizabeth Avenue at Pomona Avenue on reports of an unconscious person at around 11 p.m. according to reports.
Arriving units located one person deceased inside the vehicle according to authorities.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose the investigation into the incident is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office to determine the cause of death.
The identity of the victim or nature of the fatality is pending a thorough investigation by authorities.
