NWS: Cool Start with Light Showers Expected in Newark, North Jersey

Happy Saturday! Newark and the North Jersey region residents are waking up to a cool 51 degrees this morning, with a mix of sunshine and increasing cloudiness setting the tone for the day.AdWhile Sussex County may see a few sprinkles after 10 a.m., Newark remains dry despite high clouds gradually thickening throughout the afternoon. Sprinkles can't be ruled out for Essex County this afternoon into the evening. 

The National Weather Service forecasts a 20 percent chance of showers starting after 2 p.m., with today's highs reaching near 62 degrees.

Morning breezes will be light and variable, shifting to southeast winds at 5 to 10 mph, and could gust as high as 20 mph.

As the evening progresses, NWS forecasters said the likelihood of rain increases.

Tonight, there's a 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 11 p.m., accompanied by cloudy skies and a low around 49 degrees.AdResidents should enjoy the mild temperatures and partial sunshine while preparing for potential light showers as the weekend continues.
