NJ Juvenile Suspects Responsible for Vehicle Break-Ins Apprehended

Authorities in Passaic County announced that on April 6, 2024, Deputy Chief of Police George Guzman, Jr. and Corporal Jake Rutkowski of the Haledon Police Department responded to a report of two males breaking into vehicles in the area of Post Street and Zabriskie Street. Ad According to officials, with prompt action and collaboration with witnesses, Deputy Chief Guzman and Corporal Rutkowski successfully located and arrested both juvenile suspects.

Officials say the two males, aged fifteen and sixteen and residents of Paterson, were found in possession of Burglar Tools.

Officials stated they were taken into custody and transported to Haledon Police Headquarters, where their parents were notified of the situation.

Following a comprehensive investigation by the Haledon Police Investigative and Special Services Bureau, led by Detective Jeffrey Welsh, it was confirmed that the two juveniles were responsible for breaking into a total of three vehicles in the area, authorities say. 

The juvenile suspects have been charged with three counts of Burglary, three counts of Criminal Mischief, Theft, and Possession of Burglary Tools under applicable legal statutes, officials said. AdPursuant to Juvenile Justice Reform Guidelines, officials say that both juveniles were released to their parents with a scheduled court date in juvenile court.

According to officials, residents are urged to keep their vehicles locked, keep valuables out of sight, and call the Haledon Police if you see anything suspicious.
