Man Arrested, Charged for Fatal Shooting of Former Hoboken High School Star Athlete

Authorities in Hudson County announced that a North Bergen man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Hoboken on Sunday, April 28.AdHudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Albert Morales, 33, is charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Officials said he was arrested by members of the Massachusetts State Police in Chicopee, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, April 30, and will remain in custody pending extradition to New Jersey.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the Hoboken Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 320 Marshall Drive, officials stated. 

Authorities say responding officers located a crime scene outside the building.

A 21-year-old male, according to officials, later identified as Damon Murray of Hoboken, was transported by a private auto to Jersey City Medical Center with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Officials say he was pronounced dead just after 12 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024.
